The Valentine’s Day guided tour of the exhibition “Leonardo vs Michelangelo. A Duel of Renaissance Geniuses”, scheduled for February 14 at 6:00 PM, has sold out completely.
Therefore, we are opening an additional guided tour on the same day at 7:00 PM.
Valentine’s Day is a perfect opportunity to explore love through the lens of art and history – not only as an emotion, but as a creative force: inspiring, provocative, and boundary-breaking. During this special evening author-led tour, we invite you on an immersive journey into the world of the Renaissance and the lives of two extraordinary figures of the era.
The narrative presents the Renaissance as a time of subtle emotions, tensions, and fascinations, when art became a tool for understanding human nature. The analysis of artworks is interwoven with stories of relationships, inspirations, and individuals – women and men who became carriers of emotion, memory, and intimacy.
Leonardo da Vinci portrays love as a mystery of gaze and understatement – captured in gesture, half-shadow, and delicate modeling of form. Michelangelo presents it as an intense experience, embodied in the human form, the tension of sculptural expression, and poetic language. Although their artistic languages differed radically, both artists confronted the same fundamental questions about human nature, beauty, and emotion.
The guided tour reveals key themes of the exhibition, showing artworks not only as masterpieces of form, but also as records of emotions and personal experiences of Renaissance humanity. In this era, love was a celebration of humanity, the senses, and the conscious experience of the world.
