Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to look at love through the lens of art and history – not just as a feeling, but as a creative force: inspiring, provocative, and boundary-breaking.
On February 14 at 6:00 PM, we invite you to a special evening guided tour of the exhibition “Leonardo vs Michelangelo: Duel of Renaissance Geniuses” – an immersive journey into the world of two outstanding personalities of the Renaissance.
The tour presents the Renaissance as an era of subtle nuances of feelings, tensions, and fascinations, where art became a tool to understand human beings and their emotions. The narrative combines the analysis of artworks with stories about their subjects – women and men who inspired the artists and became carriers of emotions, memory, and intimacy. Visitors will explore the works as gestures arising from the need to preserve relationships and personal experiences.
Leonardo presents love as the mystery of a glance and ambiguity – a record of emotion visible in gesture, half-shadow, and delicate modeling of form. Michelangelo portrays it as an intense experience, present in the body, the tension of sculptural form, and poetic language. Although their artistic languages were radically different, both confronted the same questions about human nature. Their work allows us to see how the Renaissance, through very different paths, reached similar reflections on beauty and emotion.
The tour highlights key aspects of the exhibition, revealing the stories behind works that not only captivate with their form but also convey emotions, relationships, and the individual sensitivity of Renaissance humans. In this era, love was more than a sentimental thrill – it was a celebration of humanity, the senses, and conscious engagement with the world, drawing on ancient ideals and giving them a new, modern dimension.
💌 Experience art that moves the heart and spend Valentine’s Day in the extraordinary world of Leonardo and Michelangelo.
Note: The tour is conducted exclusively in Polish.
